Drake showed up at my doorstep once before, and while it ended on good terms, it did end. But I had thought about him and reached out to see if he would be willing to help me with the current situation I was forming — a situation where I needed someone other than me or my fledglings to carry out a murder. Just thinking about this violated the laws, but I needed my vengeance.
I couldn’t ask Marty to do this; I couldn’t risk using and losing him. I had noticed the development of feelings towards him, which was new for me. As much as he was growing on me and as strong of a human as he was, he was still a human. I needed another supernatural creature to help me lay down these plans. After the mishap in Wyatt’s office, I decided I needed to reach out to Drake and let him know where I was. I was back in the South, and I knew he would be able to find me. An Alpha wolf like he was would know my scent two states away, especially after the time we had spent together before.
But I need to explain to Marty what this all means. Because Drake would expect to take certain liberties. The last time we were together, blood was exchanged, and when supernatural beings exchanged it, those things tended to last for a while — an automatic defacto bond. Human men sometimes let their egos get the best of them, I wasn’t exactly sure how to explain this to Marty, but I would need to. Before Drake arrived, tomorrow.
“Hey Skylar, got your text; what’s up?” Marty walked into the room smiling. He headed for me and, as if it was routine, which it was, leaned down and gave me a passionate kiss.
“I didn’t expect you to come so quickly. Is everything handled with del?” I pulled out my notepad and looked through the different things I had going on.
Marty nodded, “Yes, he is doing great. Ruth and him are set up in the safe house. She is ordering him around, fixing things up. It looks like no one has been there in quite some time.”
I nodded, “Yeah, I don’t know when the last time I had to use it was. Good, let them tend to that. We can take care of other business. I don’t want to bring them into this next mess. Especially since it could be used against me.”
This caught Marty’s attention, “What do you mean used against you?”
I stood up and walked over to the door, and closed it. I turned on some music and signaled Marty to follow me to the corner of the room. I didn’t need Wyatt to hear any of this.
