The clock ticked by as we waited for the bride to arrive. Lisa, our notary, had gotten off on a shaky foot during the first wedding. She had been slightly late. But ever since that one time, she was our go to. Lisa was in the receiving room with Jonathan waiting for our star to arrive.

“I’m sure she will be here any moment,” Margie said to me.

“Just got a text from her. She is about to pull in. She lost an earring this morning and was in a panic.”

Margie laughed. “We’ve all been there.”

“We have the joys of dressing up. It’s why I prefer no jewelry.”

While we were talking, the front door open. Margie and I stood up and waited for Courtney to enter.

“Welcome!” I said as I saw my bride coming through the threshold.

“Sorry I’m late!”

Margie waved it off. “The bride never apologizes. Come on, let’s get you ready to meet your groom.”

As we walked into the receiving room, Jonathan immediately stood up with a smile on his face. This couple would look perfect together. She had strawberry blonde hair; he had light brown. Their eyes were both blue, which I found unique and exciting.
